Watertown track and field athletes win eight events at meet in Huron
HURON — The Watertown High School track and field teams wrapped up the regular season by winning eight events Thursday in the Mark Wendelgass relays.
The state meet takes place May 26-28 in Sioux Falls.
The Arrows have won four women’s individual events: Eve Hauger (400m, 1:01.44), Kate McElroy (1,600m, 5:47.7), Myah Morris (100 hurdles, 15.17) and Maddy Rohde (javelin, 111 -11). Hauger also joined Emery Thury, Jaida Young and Victoria Smith on the winning 1,600m relay (4:19.98).
Jaxson Fiechtner (800m, 2:04.67), Collin Dingsor (300 hurdles, 41.85) and Owen Spartz (pole vault, 14-6) won the boys’ events.
• Other Arrow Place Winners (Top 8) — Girls: Morris, eighth in the 100m sprint and second in the long jump; Young, third in the 400m sprint and fourth in the javelin; Thury, fifth in 400m; Smith, second in the 800m; Kristen Schulte, seventh in the 800m and fourth in the 1,600m; Emma List, second in the 1,600m; Ali Tesch, seventh in 1,600m; Briella Van Dusseldorp, fifth in the 100 hurdles; Hannah Walburg, eighth in the 100 and 300 hurdles; Trinity Hodorff, second in the pole vault; Abby Beynon and Ericka Woolley tied for eighth in the pole vault; Makenna Blank, seventh in the long jump; Hayden Thomas, fifth in the triple jump; and Malia Kranz, seventh on disc.
Boys: Juven Hudson, third in the 100m sprint, fourth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump; Cole Holden, sixth in the 100m sprint, seventh in the shot put and second in the javelin; Hassan Jabbie, second in the 200m sprint; Jesse Pietz, fifth in the 200 sprint; Dalton Baumberger, third in the 400m sprint; Evan Halbe, fourth in the 800m; Dingsor, second in 110 hurdles; Jack Heesch, sixth in the pole vault; Tommy Foley, tied for seventh in the pole vault; Boaz Raderschadt, second in the shot put; Paden Johnson, sixth in the shot put; and Ashton First In Trouble, eighth in the javelin.
• Other boom relays — Girls: Fifth in the 400 (Reese DeVille, McKenzie Lewis, Erika Andrews and MaKia Moe), fifth in the 800 (Moe, Emma and Molly Hendricks and Anna Hirtz) and second in the medley (Bri Johnson, M. and E. Hendricks and List ). Boys: fifth in 800m (Baumberger, Pietz, Jeremiah Schulte and Andre Baumgart).
