Virat Kohli hints at a break; to discuss the proposal with India Head Coach Rahul Dravid, the team management
HIGHLIGHTS
- Virat Kohli hasn’t been at his best in IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
- Kohli was advised to take a break from the game by Ravi Shastri and a few others.
- The RCB striker said he will discuss it with Rahul Dravid and the Indian team management.
“There is one specific person who mentioned it, it’s Ravi bhai and it’s because he has seen up close over the last six or seven years the reality of the situation I found myself in. The amount of cricket I’ve played and the ups and downs and the price it costs you to play three game formats plus the IPL for 10-11 years without a break with the seven years as captain in between” , he told Star Sports in an interview.
“So taking a break and when to take a break is obviously something I have to take a call on, but it’s just a healthy decision for anyone to take some time off and recharge mentally and physically.

In all likelihood, Kohli could be rested from the South Africa and Ireland series. But, a discussion with Dravid and the team management must first take place.
“It’s only a matter of creating a balance and finding that balance that works for you as an individual moving forward and I will definitely be discussing this with everyone involved – Rahul bhai, the management of the Indian team – everyone to plot what is best for me and for the team definitely.

In 14 matches this season, Kohli has amassed just 309 carries at an average of 23.77. He only has two fifty under his belt while those runs were also recorded at a slow 117.93 strike rate. If RCB qualifies for the playoffs, Kohli will definitely have to change some gears.
