This foundation provides scholarships to female athletes making the Indian sports ecosystem accessible and inclusive

The GoSports Foundation Unstoppable – ‘Karke Dikhaungi’ Athlete Scholarship Program is designed to provide holistic support to talented female athletes and enable them to become India’s next sports champions. The initiative is exclusively supported by the HDFC bank as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) component, “Parivartan”.

To find athletic talent, they aim to reach young girls and women who dream of becoming a top-level sportswoman for the nation.

Focus on women’s participation in sports

The scholarship scheme provides ₹5-10 Lakhs on average to female athletes, while coaches will receive ₹5 lakhs. Additionally, the program will cover all travel, equipment, training, training, etc. needs to make the sport more accessible and inclusive for women. Nominations are invited from all state and national level sportswomen across – Olympics, Winter Games, Paralympics and Motorsports, as quoted in News 18.

The initiative will include all the issues that women face in sport to make their participation easier and healthier. Through various programs on menstrual health, hygiene, mental health, and sexual harassment prevention, the GoSports Foundation is committed to creating a safe space for women in the sports arena.

Selection Process and Timeline

The application period will remain open from May 24 to June 24, 2022. After applying, selected candidates will be notified for further screening. The selection process includes interviews, feedback from the athlete’s coaches, expert opinions, etc. The whole process will be completed within 100 days.

About 20 female athletes will be finalized to provide scholarships and support during their careers. In addition, the top 100 athletes will have access to various educational workshops around the sport if they reach the third round of screening. There will be another phase where applications from coaches will be welcomed and processed, similar to that of athletes.

GoSports Foundation CEO Deepthi Bopaiah remarked that the GoSports Foundation has been blessed to become a crucial springboard over the past 13 years for many female athletes such as Bhavani Devi, Dipa Karmakar and Avani Lekhara. She further commented: “We are very happy to have HDFC Bank on board to launch a unique program for young girls and women in sport. We focus on their overall development in their respective sporting journeys (athletes).”
