End of seasons for Riverbank Spring Athletes
Spring break last week gave Riverbank High School athletes, with the exception of baseball players, a little “time out” before the final games on the schedule.
The varsity baseball team took part in a four-day tournament at Ceres High School last week. On Monday, April 18, they fell to the host Bulldogs, 9-2, then the next day they fell, 5-1, to the Hughson Huskies. On Wednesday, April 20, the Bruins defeated the Tracy Millennium Falcons, 6-3, then ended the game with an 11-3 loss to the Waterford Wildcats on Thursday.
They were scheduled to play Stone Ridge Christian in Merced on Monday, April 25, then return to Trans-Valley League play. TVL’s schedule calls for the Bruins to host the Hilmar Yellowjackets on Wednesday, April 27 and travel to play Hilmar on Friday, April 29.
Lady Bruin Softball
The varsity girls’ softball was scheduled to travel to Ripon Christian on Tuesday, April 26 after The News went to press, then travel to Ripon High School for TVL action on Thursday, April 28.
Riverbank runners, jumpers and throwers will be busy this week, heading to Hilmar on Wednesday, April 27, then competing in the Trans-Valley League freshman/sophomore championship on Friday, April 29 at Ripon High.
The Mountain/Valley League Middle School Meetup is scheduled for Thursday, April 28 at the Angelo Novi Stadium on the RHS all-weather track.
Bruin boys action was scheduled to resume league play on Monday, April 25 at Livingston, with another away game at Gustine on Wednesday night. The boys will wrap up their campaign with a home game against Newman’s Orestimba on April 28, scheduled as the final game of the volleyball season for the Bruins.
Boys, girls and Bruin mixed doubles tennis are busy this week, with a home game against Millennium scheduled for Monday and then traveling to Livingston on Tuesday. On Friday and Saturday this week, the tennis teams will be busy competing in the TVL League Championships, all day both days.
