2009 William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award Winner Announced

Duncan Hamilton's Harold Larwood scoops the prize

Duncan Hamilton's Harold Larwood has been awarded the 2009 William Hill Sports Book of the Year prize.

Commenting on the winner, Graham Sharpe of William Hill said:

Hamilton's second win is a remarkable achievement. He stunned us two years ago with his brilliant book about Brian Clough - the fact that he's done it again with a completely different sporting legend is testament to his talent as a writer

In addition to becoming only the second author to win the prize twice, Hamilton picks up a £21,000 cheque (up from £18,000 when he won previously) and a potentially lucrative £2,000 free bet from William Hill.

At the risk of blowing our own trumpet, we predicted that Hamilton would probably win and we're certainly happy to endorse the judges' decision. Mind you, we're not genuises - it was pretty obvious as it's such a good read. If you fancy taking a punt on reading it yourself, you won't regret it.

Further information on the prize, the judging panel and past winners can be found on William Hill's media site.
