The Far Corner, War, Baby and Being Sugar Ray

A round up of articles and stories from today's papers

Excellent post from Harry Pearson in today's Guardian. Anyone who is familiar with his wonderful The Far Corner will instantly recognise the type of setting and characters he identifies. Pearson has a great turn of phrase and he's one of those writers who can induce laugh out loud moments. If you've never read The Far Corner and want an insight into the real football culture of this country, or indeed just want to read a football book that's not stuck up its own you-know-where, take a look.

Also in The Guardian, John Rawling interviews five of those closely involved with the infamous Nigel Benn vs Gerald McClellan fight 12 years ago. There's a charity evening being held in London tomorrow night for McClellan which Kevin Mitchell wrote about in the Observer earlier this month. Mitchell was responsible for the remarkable War, Baby which forensically examined the fight and is an astonishing piece of boxing writing.

Slightly surprised to see a review of Being Sugar Ray in The Telegraph. In all honesty it's not an overly positive review "....this seldom coherent but, curiously, very interesting book..." is about as positive as it gets, but we're not deterred by that! We've got our own reviewer currently reading it (no pressure - ed) and we'll be posting their review shortly.
