An introduction to the site

Hi, thanks for joining us for our first post on our brand new site.

Hopefully you've had the opportunity to take a look around the site and discover the many features it has to offer. We may not be the biggest site in the world but we hope that we can demonstrate that we know and care about what we doing. I received an excellent grounding in the best (now sadly deceased) sports bookshop in the world and if we can generate any of the loyalty that place inspired, then we'll be doing ok. You can find out more in the about us pages.

We included a blog as part of the site because we wanted to be more than just on online shopping site. We wanted a mechanism that would allow us to share our opinion, our passion and (hopefully) our knowledge. A mechanism that would enable us to replicate the help and friendliness of the independent bookstore in an online environment. It's not quite the same as being able to go into your favourite shop and chat to the friendly guy behind the counter, but that's the way you should think of us.

The blog will be wide ranging. It'll feature indepth reviews of books, highlight current hot titles as well as cover issues in the world of sports publishing. There's no way that we can be a sports book site without allowing ourselves to discuss sport in general and you'll find plenty of opinion about current issues too. In time, you'll see a variety of posts by different authors. There are real people with real opinions behind this site and we have an excellent range of authors that will be contributing - we hope they all add something to your experience with us.

We will also use the blog to let you know what's going on with the site and any issues that may affect you as users. It goes without saying that we'd be delighted to receive feedback from you about what we're doing. One quick other thing. I don't want to turn this into an Oscar acceptance speech but I really have to say a quick thanks to Jon and Paul at Grow and Ivor at Neuchi for their work in getting this site together. Guys, if you knew at the outset what you do now, I'm not so sure you'd have been so keen but sincere thanks for all your efforts. It really is appreciated.
