From the Publisher:
Now in its fifth year, Soccerdata is pleased to announce the publication of a book for football statisticians and those who like a wager with the bookmaker. The Soccerdata Form Guide for 2008/09 provides a detailed statistical view of the new English Premiership and Football League season, a view that will not be found in conventional annuals such as the Sky Sports Yearbook.
The first section of the book lists every League meeting in the last 50 seasons between the clubs that will meet in 2008/09. For example, to view matches between Arsenal and Chelsea, turn to the 'Arsenal' page and read down the column headed 'Chelsea'. Other details in this section include the division in which the game was played and the home club's finishing position in the League that season. Highlights of the meetings are identified: for example, clubs that have never beaten a particular opponent in a home game.
The next section looks at sequences of matches won, drawn and lost for the 92 clubs in the season just completed, 2007/08. The results of each game are included. This analysis is then extended to examine each club's record sequences of games won, drawn, lost, and 'not won', 'not drawn' and 'not lost' over the last twenty seasons. The sequences are given for all meetings and for home and away games separately.
The next section deals with scoring trends. The instances of the 15 most common scores in the post-war period are given for each of the 92 League clubs. AFC Bournemouth have managed more 0-0 draws in the post-war period than any other club! Overall scoring trends are also examined.
Other features of the book are 'heat maps' to help identify likely results and an analysis of FA cup results in the last 10 seasons.
