From the Publisher:

Tommy Briggs is remembered as a soccer legend in Grimsby and Blackburn. While playing for Grimsby Town, he scored 35 goals in the 1949-50 season and he was the top goal scorer in the whole of the Football League. He played for England 'B' against Switzerland that season and scored one of the goals in the 5-0 victory. In four successive seasons with Blackburn Rovers, he scored more than 30 goals each season. His 140 goals at Blackburn Rovers was a record until beaten in the 1990s by Simon Garner. In a match against Bristol Rovers in February, 1955 he scored 7 goals in succession. He made 390 Football League appearances between 1947 and 1959 and scored 255 goals. When he died in 1984, he was remembered by all who ever met him as a great footballer and a gentleman.

It's A Fact!

"In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes when you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase, 'Goodnight, sleep tight.' "
