From the Publisher:

In the 1980s, darts was in a golden age and Eric Bristow was king. The self-annoited Crafty Cockney, Bristow exploded onto the scene in 1980 by winning the World Championships. Brash, ultra-confident and always ready with a quickfire wisecrack, Bristow was, for many, the perfect face of darts.

On Saturday afternoons, millions tuned in to watch as he fought out epic rivalries with the likes of Jocky Wilson, Sid Lowe and Cliff Lazarenko. In a sport dominated by colourful and unorthodox characters, Bristow towered above the others with his supreme skill, unique throwing style and his trademark wit. But, at the height of his fame, Bristow was struck down with dartsitis - the arrow equivalent of the yips. Unable to throw a dart, and with no medical solution in sight, Bristow's world fell apart.

And as he fell away from the game's podium, so too did the national affection for darts. Dark times followed, till Bristow eventually found his rehabilitation, and was able to throw a dart again. This is his amazing story.

It's A Fact!

"There have only been three Cockers who have topped the UK singles chart. Jarvis and Joe from Sheffield, obviously, and Leeds United's erstwhile trainer, Les, with the 1970 World Cup song Back Home."
