From the Publisher:
Core training is the hottest fitness trend to hit gyms in the last few years - and now you can experience the phenomenon in your own home. Core training is a variety of exercises that work the Tranversus Abdominis, a deep abdominal muscle often ignored by other exercise programs. This muscle is essential for posture and for stabilizing the spine, helping to ease back problems and improve your overall strength. Core training will also tone your torso and abs and keep your lower back healthy.
This book shows complete step-by-step routines that both men and women can do either at home or at the gym. There is an introduction that gives advice on safety and it lists in detail any equipment that is used in the book.
The main part of the book is a comprehensive workout, starting with a warm-up and then leading into basic floor exercises. There are chapters on working out with weights such as dumb-bells and medicine balls, yoga and pilates exercises, and movements using t'ai chi, with an emphasis on safety and posture. The reader can try exercises in isolation or can combine moves to make a complete workout, selecting from beginner, intermediate, or advanced exercises to suit their level. These levels are color coded for ease of use for the reader.
