From Word of Sport:
The story of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the decade since Cowher took over is as much about the coach's emotional approach to the game as it is the team's wins and losses. Drawn from the pages of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, it resists eulogy but neverthless has fulsome action, colour, and the inevitable stats.
From the Publisher:
When Hall of Fame head coach Chuck Noll announced his retirement after the 1991 season, many Pittsburgh Steelers fans wondered if his replacement would be able to live up to lofty expectations Steelers had become accustomed to.
Bill Cowher quickly answered fans' questions about his abilities by leading the Steelers to an 11-5 record in his first season.
Since that debut in 1992, Cowher's sideline sneer and tough-guy chin have become as familiar to Pittsburgh fans as seeing the Steelers atop the divisional standings. No coach in the NFL has experienced the year-in, year-out success that Cowher has in the past 10 seasons.
Decade of Power: The Pittsburgh Steelers in the Cowher Era reviews every season during Cowher's reign to see what the Pittsburgh-area native has done to become one of the best coaches in the NFL. Taken from the writers who have been around Cowher the most-the reporters and columnists at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Decade of Power looks at Cowher's every move including coming one step away from his second Super Bowl appearance in 2001.
Book-ended by AFC Division Championships in 1992 and 2001, Cowher's 10-year tenure has included six divisional titles, three appearances in the AFC Championship game and one appearance in the Super Bowl.
No other current NFL head coach has led his program as long as Cowher has led the Steelers.
It's been 10 great years for Steelers fans, and Decade of Power gives them a chance to look back at what a great run it has been
