From Word of Sport:

Originally published in 1976, his memoir offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes account of baseball in its golden era. This updated edition features a new foreword and includes previously unpublished photographs.
From the Publisher:
Originally published in 1976, The Lords of Baseball takes the reader behind the scenes of Major League Baseball's front office to experience the little-known antics that affect the everyday workings of America's national pastime. Over his long career covering the Brooklyn Dodgers, first as a sportswriter and then as their traveling secretary, Harold Parrott witnessed the moguls of baseball's Golden Era firsthand and shares many unforgettable stories about his encounters.
He paints an amusing, enlightening, and occasionally unflattering portraits of such legendary figures in the baseball establishment as Walter O'Malley, Branch Rickey, Larry MacPhail, Phil Wrigley, Gene Autry, Charlie Finley, and Ray Kroc. Parrott relates how he was once even punched in the nose by Dodger boss Larry MacPhail.
Funny and irreverent, this richly anecdotal memoir will be enjoyed by any sports fan who's ever wondered about the goings-on in big-league baseball's inner circle and how the important decisions are made.
Author info: Harold Parrott (1909-1987) spent forty-five years behind the scenes of Major League Baseball. He began his career as a journalist at The Brooklyn Eagle, where he covered the Dodgers for fifteen years. He then became their traveling secretary and publicist. Parrott was later associated with the California Angels, the Seattle Pilots, and the San Diego Padres.

It's A Fact!
Barry White was the arranger of 'Harlem Shuffle' by Bob & Earl...not strictly a sporting fact, but an interesting one nonetheless!
