From the Publisher:
CENTURY CITY tells the story of Manchester City's incredible 1957/58 season, when City scored and conceded a century of goals, the only club in the first class game to achieve this (dubious) record.
The book celebrates the achievements of all the significant players (Matthews, Finney, Greaves, etc) and teams of that era, and covers City's games and accumulation of goals for and against during that exciting season. It includes Ken Barnes' three penalties v Everton and the goal trail of Billy MacAdams - eleven goals in ten consecutive games, plus the great saves from Bert Trautmann, the author's hero and his most inspirational player, and climaxing with Johnny Hart scoring the one hundredth goal at Goodison.
Graphic descriptions of the matches are included, by the excellent sports writers of the day, meticulously reported without the benefit of endless TV coverage; diagram drawings of the stadia, which have become a trademark of the author in his fanzine King of the Kippax; selections from the
programmes; profiles and portrait drawings of the players, including some interviews, and accounts of their whereabouts following the conclusion of their careers at Manchester City. News reports provide a colourful backdrop to events on the field, together with the fans' eye views of their match day experiences.
A detailed and comprehensive view of an extraordinary season from all angles and a must for all football enthusiasts and City supporters in particular.

It's A Fact!
"In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes when you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase, 'Goodnight, sleep tight.' "
